None of our cordless phones are working¶
Overview¶
Cordless phones work through a base: a small box plugged into your network that all the handsets talk to. If every cordless handset stops working at the same time, the problem is most likely the base, not the handsets.
What you may notice¶
- All handsets show "Line Forbidden", "No Service" or "Searching"
- No dial tone on any handset
- Calls don't ring on any handset
What you can try¶
- Find the base. It's usually near your network equipment or on a shelf, with a network cable and a power cable plugged in.
- Check both cables are firmly plugged in at both ends.
- Restart the base. Unplug its power (or its network cable, if it has no separate power adapter), wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Wait a few minutes. The base needs time to start up, and the handsets need time to reconnect to it.
- Make a test call from a handset, then have someone call you.
Only one handset not working?
Put it back on its charger for a few minutes, then try again. If it's still not working and the others are fine, contact PMX.
If it still doesn't work¶
Contact PMX and tell us how many handsets are affected, what the screens say, and when it started.
